Ivan participates in Pro/Am, instructor/student, dance competitions and has successfully coached his students to win many medals. He was born in Sumy, Ukraine, and began taking dance lessons when he was seven years old. Ivan moved to Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 2010 to continue his dance education, and attended the major university there earning his Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages.

Ivan met his dance partner, Alisa, in 2010, and they became dance partners in 2012. They competed in Youth and Amateur dance competitions across Europe, becoming accomplished DanceSport athletes at the top of their field. In 2017, Ivan and Alisa won the Ukrainian online casting for Royal Caribbean Cruises and were their premier ballroom dance couple. They moved to the U.S. in 2018, turned Professional in 2019, and now represent the United States in national and international Latin Dance competitions.

Ivan is an independent dance instructor, and he gives lessons at Fatcat Ballroom.
